不论中外，吉他唱作人路线有如历久不衰依然受尽青睐，自2006年以来，英国陆续有不少新鲜上阵的唱作型女歌手，今次有被誉为“新Amy Winehouse”的Adele。据她所说这张专辑是关于18至19岁年青人的爱情，是一张比较失落的唱片。但从单曲《Chasing Pavements》和《Hometown Glory》的旋律中，渗透出的成熟韵味，并非年轻爱侣的小情小爱。
作为专辑的首支单曲，《Hometown Glory》表达了Adele对自己家乡的那份深深的热爱之情。而这却是她早在16岁就写好的歌曲。16岁的歌还略带成长的迷惘和不知所措，然而这首16岁的歌曲却成为了Adele给自己19岁成长的探索划下的句号——或许在历经种种之后的她顿然悟出：原来成长不过是在那些冲击、矛盾、犹豫或是踟蹰面前欣然而，在现实和期望最猛烈的撞击之后，受伤的孩子终还是要回到那个依旧矛盾的故乡，慰藉疗伤。
