《Rolling in the Deep》由阿黛尔、保罗·艾普沃斯编写及制作  ，其创作灵感是阿黛尔在录音室中得到的：阿黛尔称她在写歌时突然想到一段旋律，一直在她的脑海里重复，这使得她唱出了歌曲的第一句歌词 。在制作歌曲的过程中，保罗·艾普沃斯负责歌曲的贝斯、古典吉他、打击乐器以及人声的伴唱部分，尼尔·考利、诺埃尔·兰利分别负责钢琴和喇叭的伴奏 。
