One of the all time great PGs, a phenomenal shooter, an incredibly gifted passer, and by all accounts a great dude.

Honestly, Steve was just one of those players whose style of play and general grace to his game made it seem like he could never miss. Like, seriously, he supposedly missed 10% of his free throws but I don't know if I ever sat and watched a missed Steve Nash free throw in my life. He seemed to just outwit and outclass every player on the court. The ultimate role model for me.

Watching Steve Nash play is something I will never forget. I watched nearly every game during our prime years and when he shot the ball, people just assumed it would go in and would be legitimately surprised when he missed. His play was unlike anything or anyone else in the league today and I am genuinely sad to see him retire.

From what he said last year, the injuries aren't bad, he doesn't suffer pain, and he can do physical activities. It's just playing NBA is, obviously, too much to handle and probably too risky.

I'm glad he stopped playing while he's still healthy and young (relative to normal people) and I hope he'll live long and happy.

LAL retired Shaqs jersey the season after he retired. Retiring jerseys doesn't have set rules, teams can act as they wish.

Edit: also Jason Kidd got his retired the season after he retired.
