left-handed，左撇子；contortion，扭弯、扭歪；coffee mug handle，咖啡杯柄。handle作动词是“处理、解决”，作名词是“手柄、把手”；Power socket，电源插座；habitually，习惯性地；cover，可表示“覆盖，代替”，作及物动词还可表示“包括、报导、涉及”，
如：His studies covered a wide field.他的研究项目涉及的范围很广。
Two reporters were sent to cover the war.派去两名记者采访有关战事的新闻。
might as well不妨、倒不如、还是……的好，如：Since I get asked this question all the time, I might as well answer it publicly. 既然我经常被问到这样一个问题，我倒不如公开地回答大家。

severed,切断的。词根是动词sever（隔断、断绝、使分离），不要和形容词severe（严重的）混了哦；bloody，表示“血腥的、残忍的”，在英国俚语口语中常常表示“非常的，十分的“或者”该死的、可恶的”，如：
Within weeks, though, vainglory turns into a costly and bloody quagmire. 但是，几周之内，虚荣变成了昂贵的和血腥的泥潭。

sibling，同胞、兄弟姐妹；rivalry，竞争、对抗；getting somewhere，口语中常见表达，指“有些成果、有所成就”，如：Identifying what you want to change is the first step to getting somewhere with it.确定那些东西是你想要改变的是进展的第一步。

（2）SHERLOCK: Mr Ewart, of Janus Cars, had a 20,000 Colombian peso note in his wallet. Quite a bit of change, too. He told us he hadn't been abroad recently, but when I asked him about the cars, I could see his tan line clearly. No-one wears a shirt on a sun bed. That, plus his arm. He kept scratching it. Obviously irritating him, and bleeding. He'd recently had a booster jab.Hep-B, probably. Hard to tell at that distance. He's just back from settling Ian Monkfod into his new life in Colombia. Mrs Monkford cashes in the life insurance, and she splits it with Janus Cars.

SHERLOCK: Oh, yes. She's in on it too. Go and arrest them, Inspector,that's what you do best. We need to let our bomber know the case is solved. I am on fire!

note，作动词表“注意”，作名词可表“纸币”；tan line，晒痕，tan指日晒后的皮肤；scratch，挠（痒）；irritate,激怒、惹怒、使烦躁；booster jab，预防针、疫苗，如booster jab for tetanus破伤风针；cash in，兑现、收到……货款；on fire，着火、起火、在兴头上、非常激动。

SHERLOCK: I have been reliably informed that I don't have one.
据知情人的可靠消息，我这人没有心。
BOMBER: But we both know that's not quite true.

炸弹狂徒说的似乎是真理，卷福是个刀子嘴豆腐心的家伙……reliably，副词“可靠地、确实地”；inform，通知，告知。

（4）最后关头，WATSON舍身向正要朝SHERLOCK开枪的狂徒扑去。危险暂时解除，WATSON的舍身解救让SHERLOCK很感动，但他磕磕巴巴的“真情流露”时却被WATSON乘机调戏了一下！小编附上结尾这傲娇的一幕：
WATSON: Are you OK?
你还好吗？
SHERLOCK: Me? Yeah, fine. I'm fine. Fine. That, er…thing that you… that you did, that, um…you offered to do… that was, um…good.
我？还好，还好……那个……额……刚才你……舍身救我……很英勇……
WATSON: I'm glad no-one saw that.
我很庆幸没有人看见我们。
SHERLOCK: Mm?

WATSON: You ripping my clothes off in a darkened swimming pool. People might talk.

SHERLOCK: They do little else.
他们就不干别的。
rip off有多个意思：“偷窃、扯掉、欺诈、剥削”，在此处表示“（把衣服）扯掉”；darkened，没有灯光的。

《神探夏洛克》第二季于2012年回归。第一集The Scandal In Belgravia（《贝尔格莱维亚丑闻》），承接第一季末尾剧情，SHERLOCK和WATSON在泳池边和炸弹狂徒Moriarty展开生死博弈。但Moriarty接到一个神秘电话后离奇地暂停了这场较量。在调查“艳照门”事件中，一个和英国的上层建筑有神秘纠葛的女子进入了SHERLOCK和WATSON的生活，错综复杂的案情背后，我们也更多地看到了卷福感性（也性感>_<）的一面……

Low self-esteem, tiny IQ and a limited life expectancy, and you think he's a criminal mastermind?! Don't worry, this is just stupid.
单身独居，过度肥胖，重度口臭。右边袖口显示出他是一个网络色情狂。呼吸动作表明他有心脏病 但是没有接受治疗。自尊心极弱 智商低下 而且还活不长,你还觉得他是一个高智商犯罪的策划者? 别多心 就是随便说说罢了
卷福接了一桩驴友无故死于河边的案子，但他认为案子技术含量太低不值得他亲临犯罪现场，派华生到现场并做视频勘测。警官认为那是谋杀案子，被卷福鄙视了，剩下左右做人难的尴尬的华生……
suspect作及物和不及物动词表怀疑、猜疑，作名词可作“疑犯、嫌疑人”，如：
I suspect he is a thief.我怀疑他是贼。
I suspect his motives.我对他的动机表示怀疑。
The police detained the suspect to make further inquiries. 警察拘留了那个嫌疑犯以便进一步审查。
mute button，静音键，MUTE静音；commit a crime，固定搭配，表示“犯罪”，commit也可和其他名词搭配，表示“实施、犯”，如commit suicide自杀；consult，咨询；Fair play，公平竞争、公平比赛、平等对待，如：
No fair play. Once down, that was the end of you. 就是这样，这是一场不公平的战斗，一旦倒下，你将会被终结。
It should involve fair play, team spirit and individual excellence. 它包括公平比赛，团队精神和个人能力。

卷福他哥MYCROFT派人用直升飞机将两人接到白金汉宫。华生到场时卷福就裹着床单坐在华丽的沙发上（小编语：看来裸睡的卷福直接这样“原生态”地来到皇宫，太坦然了）。忍俊不禁的两人在猜测他们此行的目的。
pants，表达的是“裤子”的概念，但英美俚语用法不同，美语主要用来表示长裤或宽松的便服裤，英语指内裤或男士的短衬裤（在这里就是指的内裤……）；Buckingham Palace，白金汉宫，英国皇室所在地；fighting an impulse，与某种冲动斗争；ashtray，烟灰缸（白金汉宫的烟灰缸相当精美）；apparently，很显然的，相当于“obviously”;behave like grown-ups，像大人一样表现（处事成熟一点）；hold out hope，（在不利情况下仍）对……抱有希望，如：
“We continue to hold out hope that Iran will abide by the will of the international community, but hope is not a plan,” he said. 他说："我们继续希望伊朗按照国际社会的意愿行事，但希望不等于计划。"
I say ‘the promise”, since we continue to hold out hope that one day we’ll find a solution that really does deliver on that promise. 我之所以说“承诺”，是因为我们继续怀着有一天我们可以找到一个实现该承诺方案的希望。

涉及错综复杂案情的神秘女子Irene Adler似乎扮演着亦正亦邪的角色，她的一举一动似乎都围绕着卷福，卷福也似乎对这个曾打败过自己的女人——「The woman」（卷福语）心动了。作为局外人的华生怎样在理智与情感中理清案件的线索？

Irene： There was a man, an MOD official and I knew what he liked. One of the things he liked was showing off. He told me this email was going to save the world. He didn't know but I photographed it – he was a bit tied up at the time.

SHERLOCK： There's a margin for error, but I'm pretty sure there's a 747 leaving Heathrow tomorrow at 6.30 for Baltimore. Apparently it's going to save the world, I'm not sure how, but give me a moment, I've only been on the case eight seconds. Oh, come on, it's not code, these are seats on a jet. Look, no 'I' because it can be mistaken for one. No letters past 'K' – the width of the plane is the limit. The numbers always appear not in sequence, but the letters have little runs of sequence families and couples sitting together. Only a Jumbo's wide enough for a letter 'K' or rows past 55, so there's always an upstairs. A row 13 eliminates superstitious airlines. The style of the flight number, '007', eliminates a few more. Assuming a British point of origin which would be logical considering the original source, and assuming the crisis is imminent, the only flight that matches all the criteria and departs within the week is the 6.30 to Baltimore tomorrow from Heathrow. Please don't feel obliged to tell me that was amazing, John's expressed that in every possible variant available in English.
可能还有点问题，但是我很肯定明天六点半有一架波音747会从希思罗机场飞往巴尔的摩，显然它是会拯救世界。但是我还不知道究竟怎么救。再给我点时间，我才想了八秒钟。拜托，这根本不是密码，这是飞机上的座位号。看，上面没有I，因为这有可能和1混淆，也没有K后面的字母，因为飞机宽度的限制。这些数字看似毫无顺序可言。但是如果家人夫妻坐在一起的话还是有一点规律可循的。巨型机应该有K或者55排之后的座位 所以还会有2楼，有13排就可以把那些迷信的航空公司排除了。航班号的格式 007，又能排除掉一些。考虑到信息来源，我们可以合理推测这是一家英国的航空公司，考虑到危机时刻已经迫在眉睫，那么能符合所有条件,并且要在一周内起飞的,就只有明天六点半从希思罗飞往巴尔的摩的航班了

卷福成功破解了IRENE手中的国安局邮件密码，卷福那脑子转速和神语速，小编和IRENE一样，再一次表示长跪不起……顺便还在最后调戏了一下华生。卷福对那些倾慕他的人可谓是不留情啊。
MOD:Ministry of Defence,国防部；show off，炫耀；tied up，被占用的（东西等）、脱不了身的、忙得不可开交的（人），在这里指的是被捆绑的（这里是双关语，IRENE在跟他玩这个……），如：

cryptographer，解码专家；upside down，倒挂着，倒置着（又是内涵词语……）；impress，打动、吸引；margin，利润、余地，There's a margin for error有一个犯错误的余地；Heathrow，（伦敦）希斯罗机场；Baltimore巴尔的摩:美国一港口城市；be mistaken被误会为、被误认作；in sequence，依次、逐一；Jumbo，特指特大型喷气式飞机；eliminate，排除；superstitious，迷信的；imminent，即将来临的、迫近的；criteria，标准；feel obliged to觉得有义务做某事，如：

《神探夏洛克》第二季第二集改编自The Hounds of Baskerville《巴斯克维尔的猎犬》。办完大案处于无聊状态的卷福接到一名饱受童年阴影困扰的男子HENRY的求助，本来觉得案情无聊的卷福本以为把HENRY打发走，后来发现事有蹊跷，饶有兴致地接了案子，并且和华生亲自到巴斯克维尔——这个一直被揣测在进行动物研究的军事基地调查事件。

HENRY: How on Earth did you notice all that?
你到底怎样知道这些的？
WATSON: It's not important…

SHERLOCK： Punched out holes where your ticket's been checked.
票上的洞表示你的票被查过。
WATSON: Not now, Sherlock.

SHERLOCK： Oh, please, I've been cooped-up for ages!

It's just after 9.15, you're desperate. The first train from Exeter to London leaves at 5.46am. You got the first one, so something important must have happened last night. Am I wrong?
