SHERLOCK:This is Mycroft, isn't it? Of course it is. One mention of Baskerville and he sends down my handler to spy on me, incognito. Is that why you're calling yourself "Greg"?
WATSON: That's his name.
SHERLOCK:Is it?
GREY:Yes. If you'd ever bothered to find out. Look, I'm not your handler. And I just do what your brother tells me.
WATSON: Actually, you could be just the man we want.
SHERLOCK:Why?
WATSON: Well, I've not been idle, Sherlock. I think I might have found something. Here. I didn't know if it was relevant. Starting to look like it might be. That is an awful lot of meat for a vegetarian restaurant.
SHERLOCK:Excellent.
WATSON: A nice, scary inspector from Scotland Yard, who can put in a few calls, might come in very handy.
spy on,跟踪、窥视;incognito,“化名的、隐姓埋名的”,也可作名词“匿名者”;be bothered to do,受累去做某事,如:
She glanced around the top, still wondering why she bothered to climb so far.
All the other phases of his life were neglected; no one even bothered to teach him table manners.
idle,闲置的、懒散的、停顿的;Scotland Yard苏格兰场,指伦敦警察厅;come in very handy,就在手边,唾手可得。

SHERLOCK:Good, excellent, old-fashioned. Traditionalist. Not the sort to use his children's name as a password. He loves his job, proud of it. This is work-related. So what's at eye level? Books. Jane's Defence Weekly, bound copies. Hannibal. Wellington. Rommel. Churchill's History of the english-Speaking Peoples, all four volumes. Churchill, he's fond of Churchill. Copy of The Downing Street Years, one to five. Separate biographies of Thatcher. Mid-1980s, at a guess. Father and son. Barrymore Senior, medals, Distinguished Service Order. That date, I'd say Falklands veteran. Right, Thatcher's a more likely bet than Churchill.
WATSON: That's the password?
SHERLOCK:No! With a man like Major Barrymore, only first name terms would do.
Hound.
WATSON: Jesus.
SHERLOCK:Project HOUND. A new deliriant drug which rendered its users incredibly suggestible. They wanted to use it as an anti-personnel weapon, to totally disorientate the enemy using fear and stimulus. But they shut it down and hid it away in 1986…And what they did to others. Prolonged exposure drove them insane. Made them almost uncontrollably aggressive.

SHERLOCK:Because dead men get listened to, he needed to do more than kill you. He had to discredit every word you ever said about your father. And he had the means right at his feet. A chemical minefield, pressure pads in the ground, dosing you up every time that you came back here. Murder weapon and scene of the crime all at once. This case, Henry. Thank you. It's been brilliant!
WATSON: Sherlock.
SHERLOCK:What?
WATSON: Timing.
SHERLOCK:Not good?
All at once I tumbled to what he meant.
How come that nice opportunities and brilliant ideas should gather around all at once?

WATSON: I mean, this isn't a deerstalker now,it's a Sherlock Holmes hat. I mean, you're not exactly a private detective any more. You're this far from famous.
SHERLOCK: Oh,it'll pass.
WATSON: It better pass. The press will turn,Sherlock, they always turn and they'll turn on you.
SHERLOCK: It really bothers you.
WATSON: What?
SHERLOCK: What people say.
WATSON: Yes.
对。
SHERLOCK: About me? why would it upset YOU?
WATSON: Just try to keep a low profile. Find yourself a little case this week. Stay out of the news.
Aristide arrived in Haiti two days before the runoff but has kept a low profile so far and did not endorse a candidate.
The determination of the Chinese has raised eyebrows among some diplomats, who are used to the Chinese adopting a low profile at international summits.
stay out of,同stay away from, 表示“远离……”。

SHERLOCK: No,you're not a fan at all. Those marks on your forearm, edge of a desk. You've been typing in a hurry, probably, pressure on,facing a deadline.
JOURNALIST: That all?
SHERLOCK: There's an ink smudge on your wrist,a bulge in your jacket pocket.
JOURNALIST: Bit of a giveaway?
SHERLOCK: The smudge is deliberate,to see if I'm as good as they say I am. Oilbased, used in newspaper print. But drawn on with an index finger, your finger. Journalist. Unlikely you get your hands dirty at the press. You put that there to test me.
JOURNALIST: I'm liking you.
SHERLOCK: I'd make a great feature,"Sherlock Holmes, the man beneath the hat".
SHERLOCK: You think you're the girl for that job,do you?
JOURNALIST: I'm smart and you can trust me… totally.
SHERLOCK: Smart? OK,investigative journalist.
SHERLOCK: Good. Well, look at me and tell me what you see.
SHERLOCK: If you're that skilful, you don't need an interview, you can just read what you need. No? OK, my turn. I see someone who's waiting for their first scoop,so their editor will notice them. You're wearing an expensive skirt, that's been rehemmed twice. Only posh skirt you've got. Your nails, you can't afford to do them that often. I see someone who's hungry,I don't see smart. I don't see trustworthy. I'll give you a quote. if you like. Three little words. You repel me.
His long hair and filthy clothes repelled her.
He repelled all my offers of help.
Fire and water repel each other.

MOLLY: Jim wasn't my boyfriend, we went out three times. I ended it.
SHERLOCK:Then he stole the Crown Jewels, broke into the Bank of England and organised a prison break. For the sake of law and order,I suggest you avoid all future attempts at a relationship,Molly.
He is going to live by the coast for the sake of his health.
You should take care of your niece for the sake of your sister.

SHERLOCK:Joining me?
WATSON: Yeah. Well, apparently it's against the law to chin the Chief Superintendent.
SHERLOCK:Bit awkward this.
WATSON: There's no one to bail us.
SHERLOCK:I was thinking more about our imminent and daring escape. Ladies and gentlemen, will you all please get on your knees? NOW would be good!
LESTRADE: Do as he says!
WATSON: Just so you're aware, the gun is his idea,I'm just a… you know.
SHERLOCK: My hostage.
WATSON: Hostage, yes, that works. That works. So what now?
SHERLOCK: Doing what Moriarty wants, becoming a fugitive. Run!
against the law违法,commit a crime犯罪;Chief Superintendent,(英国)高级警官;bail,保释,使摆脱困境;imminent,即将发生的;daring,大胆的;get on one's knees,跪下,on one's back,躺下;hostage,人质;fugitive,逃亡者、逃犯。

MORIATY: Sherlock, your big brother and all the King's horses couldn't make me do a thing I didn't want to.
SHERLOCK: Yes,but I'm not my brother, remember? I am you. Prepared to do anything. Prepared to burn. Prepared to do what ordinary people won't do. You want me to shake hands with you in hell? I shall not disappoint you.
MORIATY: Nah. You talk big. Nah. You're ordinary. You're ordinary. You're on the side of the angels.
SHERLOCK: Oh,I may be on the side of the angels, but don't think for one second that I am one of them.
My mother often makes me do housework.

-Hmm, you're slipping.
Slavic:

Sir, you'll find this vintage exceptionally to your liking. It has all the qualities of the old, with the colour of the new. Like a gaze from a crowd of strangers, suddenly one is aware of staring into the face of an old friend.

-Gosh, you don't know anything about human nature, do you?

London, it's like a great cesspool into which all kinds of criminals, agents and drifters are irresistibly drained. Sometimes it's not a question of who, it's a question of who knows? If this man cancels his papers, I need to know. If this woman leaves London without putting her dog into kennels, I need to know. I have certain people, they are markers. If they start to move, I'll know something's up. Like rats deserting a sinking ship.
