华生和夏洛克来到了废弃的车厢里，发现里面到处都是炸弹。夏洛克假称自己不会拆弹，并且哭泣着对华生道歉。华生最终原谅了夏洛克，声称对方是自己见过最聪明最好的人。但是这只是夏洛克为了赢取原谅的一个手段……地铁案件虽然成功爆破，但是夏洛克仍然怀疑这件事情背后仍然有主谋。

disposal： 处理；支配；清理；安排。
在千钧一发，两人即将共赴黄泉的时刻，华生终于主动“告白”，原谅了福尔摩斯的欺骗，却发现实际上这不过是卷福的“引诱”。

Mrs.Hudson与Sherlock聊婚姻，显然两个人的经历都没什么资格谈婚姻生活。

(1)advert
作为名词的意思是“广告”，与“advertise”相似，做动词的意思是“注意，谈到”。而句中Sherlock把Mrs.Hudson形容为“广告”，称她算不上伴侣关系的“广告”，但译成中文时如果直译反而会失去味道，必须转换成我们熟悉的表达方式。这是英译中非常常见的变换。
(2)lethal injection
“lethal”的意思是“致死的”，“injection”的意思是注射，这里指特定死刑。
例句：Whales will be killed by a lethal injection once a vet and marine mammal experts have checked the scene. 鲸类搁浅以后，一位兽医和海洋哺乳动物专家会对现场进行评估，然后进行注射安乐死。
(3)run out
常用短语搭配，指“用完；耗尽；跑出；到期；伸向”。
例句：Conditions are getting worse and supplies are running out. 情况越来越糟，给养也快耗尽了。

(1)regardless of
常用短语，意指“不管，不顾”。同义词组还有“despite of”。
例句：The fields give high and stable yields regardless of climatic circumstances. 不管天气条件如何，这块地总是保持稳产高产。
(2)text alert
短信提醒。假如你将手机设为英语环境，那么肯定会熟悉“xx alert”的组合。不管是新闻推送，还是短信收发，还是闹钟，都会涉及到“alert”这个词。在社交媒体兴起前，“alert”只是“警报，警觉”的意思，但现在，消息提示，私信提醒都开始用这个词作为表达方式。
(3)whereas
然而；鉴于；反之。在口语中的意思就是“而”，引导与主句内容相对比的评论。
例句：Benefits are linked to inflation, whereas they should be linked to the cost of living. 救济金与通货膨胀联系了起来，而它们应该与生活费用挂钩。
(4)in your defence
“defence”的意思是“防御”，而在这里，则是“为自己辩护”。
例句：By not saying anything in your defence, you leave yourself wide open to all sorts of accusations. 由于你一点也不替自己辩护， 因而会招来各种指责。
(5)casual acquaintance
固定短语，“泛泛之交”的意思。“casual”的意思就是“随便的；非正式的；临时的；偶然的”，如果要说两人关系（恋情）是认真的，那么可以说“a serious relationship”。
(6)sociopath
反社会的人；不爱社交的人。“psychopath（精神病）”在美语中是非常常见的骂人的话，但“sociopath”就非常严肃了，不能随便拿来骂人，因为这是一种比精神病严肃得多的疾病，而且一般有反社会人格的人你也根本惹不起，遑论打嘴仗了。

(1)The best man
字面意思是“最好(合适)的人”，但也有“伴郎”的双关意。如果要没有歧义的表达，那么伴郎还可以用“groomsman”代替，“groom”的意思是新郎，“新郎的男人”自然就是伴郎（卷福）了~

(2)garrotte
做动词的意思是“绞杀”，做名词的意思是“绞刑；绞刑刑具”。

(3)disclose
公开；揭露。类似表达还有“reveal”、“expose”。

例句：Neither side would disclose details of the transaction.
双方都不会透露交易的细节。
